秦大川英译：李白(唐)《将进酒》

君不见，黄河之水天上来，奔流到海不复回。君不见，高堂明镜悲白发，朝如青丝暮成雪。人生得意须尽欢，莫使金樽空对月。天生我材必有用，千金散尽还复来。烹羊宰牛且为乐，会须一饮三百杯。  

岑夫子，丹丘生，将进酒，杯莫停。与君歌一曲，请君为我侧耳听。钟鼓馔玉不足贵，但愿长醉不愿醒。古来圣贤皆寂寞，惟有饮者留其名。陈王昔时宴平乐，斗酒十千恣欢谑。主人何为言少钱，径须沽取对君酌。五花马，千金裘，呼儿将出换美酒，与尔同销万古愁。

Let's Drink Up

Do you not see the Yellow River from the sky,

Racing all the way to th’ sea without coming back?

Do you not see the bright mirror hanging on high

Lament over the snow white hair turned from pure black?

One should take every enjoyment when he succeeds;

Let not the golden cups lie empty in the moon.

God endows me with talent that of use must be;

A thousand tael of gold spent are to come back soon.

Cook lamb ’n’beef to enjoy the momentary fun;

The three hundred cups must be gulped down all at once.

Sir Cen Xun and Yuan Danqiu, keep on drinking, cheers!

Now I will sing you a song, please lend me your ears.

How little worth are th’ music and delicacies,

I’d rather fall dead drunk and not to come around.

All the saints and sages are obscure in history,

Only the drinkers have their great names to pass down.

Once Prince Chen held a banquet in Pingle Palace,

Countless cups were clinking amid carnival sound.

Why, the host says I haven’t got enough money,

Get th’ wine, and I’ll drink with my friend round after round;

Swap my dappled horse and dear fur coat for th’ wine, boy.

Let my friend and I have the age-old sorrows drowned!
