Influence of Doctrine of
Mohism on Thoughts of Mencius
谈墨学对孟子思想的影响
Immensely
prevalent during the period of the
Warring States was the doctrine of Mohism. However, in order to
safeguard the status of Confucian thoughts, Mencius(c. 372 BC ~ c.
289 BC) launched a violent attack upon the former. But, while
criticizing Mohism, Mencius was, to the contrary, deeply impacted
by Mohism. For, if Mencius is compared with
Mohism, it is
self-evident that many important ideas and concepts of values in
Mencius are rooted in
and/or originated from Mohism.

A famous thinker and educator in the
early Qing Dynasty, Yan Yuan（1635
~ 1704）
was the pathfinder
of the school of Yan Yuan and Li
Gong
（1650
~ 1733）.
His attitude towards the Neo-Confucianism of Cheng
Hao
（1032
~ 1085）,
Cheng Yi
（1033
~ 1107）
and Zhu Xi
（1130~1200）was
the result of an ever-changing process from worship to suspicion,
from suspicion to criticism; it is at the same time a process of
choice as far as scholarship is concerned, and the result of
academic and social interactions. His abandonment of traditional
Chinese scholarship was both due to social factors and to personal
ones as well. Through this abandonment of his, Yan Yuan established
his own academic system, and finally formed the school of Yan Yuan
and Li gong, which was widely influential in Chinese academic
history.

一、谈墨学对孟子思想的影响
战国时期，墨学学说极为盛行，为了维护儒家思想的地位，孟子对墨学发动了猛烈的攻击。然而，在对墨学进行批判的同时，孟子相反却受到墨学的深刻影响。对比《孟子》和《墨子》，不言自明的是，《孟子》中许多重要的思想和价值观念都根植或源于《墨子》。
二、颜元对程朱理学扬弃原因探微
颜元是清初著名的思想家和教育家，颜李学派的开创者。颜元对程朱理学的态度是一个变动的过程：从崇奉到怀疑，从怀疑到批判。这是颜元对中国传统学术抉择的过程，也是学术和社会互动的结果。他对中国传统学术的扬弃，既有社会原因，也有个人原因。通过他的这一扬弃，颜元构建了自己的学术体系，并最终形成了一个在中国学术史上广具影响的颜李学派。
