       LORD POLONIUS SPEECH                      波洛涅斯大人的臨別贈言

　　Yet here, Laertes! aboard, aboard, for shame!                還在這兒，雷歐提斯！上船，快上船，慚愧啊！

　　The wind sits in the shoulder of your sail,                        那風兒已坐在你船帆的肩上，

　　And you are stay'd for. There; my blessing with thee!     大伙都在等你。好吧；讓我為你祝福！

　　And these few precepts in thy memory                            這兒有幾條規矩你得記住：

　　See thou character. Give thy thoughts no tongue,           瞧你這德性。開口之前先用用腦筋,

       Nor any unproportioned thought his act.                          行為要得體，凡事三思而後行。

       Be thou familiar, but by no means vulgar.                        待人要和氣，舉止切不可粗俗。

　　Those friends thou hast, and their adoption tried,          你交的那些狐朋狗黨，得提防他們的名堂，

　　Grapple them to thy soul with hoops of steel;                 要用鐵腕來管教他們才能讓你稱心。

       But do not dull thy palm with entertainment                   可別等閒了你的巴掌在那些鬼把戲裡，           

       Of each new-hatch'd, unfledged comrade. Beware           尤其是那些乳臭未乾，羽毛未豐的混小子。

　　Of entrance to a quarrel, but being in,                             謹防與人發生爭執，可一旦起事，

　　Bear't that the opposed may beware of thee.                  就得讓對方知道，你絕不會輕饒！

 　　Give every man thy ear, but few thy voice;                     傾聽每個人的高見，但只對極少數人坦言；

　　Take each man's censure, but reserve thy judgment.       接受每個人的批評，但得保留自己的判斷。

　　Costly thy habit as thy purse can buy,                               盡你的財力購置名貴的衣物，

　　But not express'd in fancy; rich, not gaudy;                      可不是要去趕時髦；而是要氣派，不能豔俗；

　　For the apparel oft proclaims the man,                            因為這外表往往是人格的表現，

　　And they in France of the best rank and station               看看那些法國的名流高貴得體

　　Are of a most select and generous chief in that.              在這一方面他們顯得最有氣派。

　　Neither a borrower nor a lender be;                                 不要向人借錢，也不借錢給別人；

　　For loan oft loses both itself and friend,                          因為一旦借錢與人，往往人財兩空，
