To thrive or not, it’s hard to tell,
It’s the same thing with bliss or bane.
If Shun had not been known to Yao,
He would have been farming with pain.
If Jiang Shang had not seen King Wen,
He would have been a fisherman.
Don’t you see Confucius from Lu
He did in Chen and Cai remain.
The Prince of Chough to a white hut
Was praised as a saint, true and sane.
