那跑堂的已经去远了，没有听见。

But the waiter was already out of earshot.

今天晚上有月亮，稍带长圆形的，像一颗白净的莲子似的月亮，四周白蒙蒙的发出一圈光雾。人站在阳台上，在电灯影里，是看不见月色的，只看见曼桢露在外面的一大截子手臂浴在月光中，似乎特别的白。

The moon above was long and oval like a pure white lotus-seed, filling the air with misty white light. On the balcony itself, the moonlight vanished in the light of the lamps. But Manzhen's forearm, resting on the railing's outer edge and bathed in the lunar glow, gleamed white.

她终于出来了。死也要死在外面。她恨透了那所房子，这次出去是再也不会回去了，除非是在噩梦中。她知道她会梦见它的。无论活到多么大，她也难以忘记那魔宫似的房屋与花园，在恐怖的梦里她会一次一次的回到那里去。

Finally, finally, she was out. She made a vow never to return to that place. She hated that house. But it would come back to her...in nightmares. That hellish room, that vile garden, never to be erased from her mind: nocturnal visions of horror would take her there, again and again. It was a memory she could not outlive.
