A Belated Poem for My Dad
--- As a Father’s Day Gift
For you, dear Dad, I now should write
A poem, be it simple, shallow or too direct.
This has been a plan of mine, long-cherished,
Held back though, owing to the lack of tact——
Emotions expressed, you seldom encouraged——
Rarely is Petite so much now determined.
Perhaps you used to feel much frustrated:
Education of a daughter could be such a bore.
To a single child, you obliged to spare and spoil
In whatever temper, despite her rage and roar.
Theories were to her useless, much as the preach,
English spooned with apples, cookies and candy.
Look inside your heart, it’s sentimental and soft
Oft clothed in capsules for dignity and image loft.
Varied efforts exerted for fortune and success,
Even at the cost that people you misunderstood.
Yet no relative would ever take you for granted,
Of heaven and earth, you are the most important.
Utterly a guardian and guide, you're always on my side.

写给爸爸的诗
--- 父亲节的礼物(参考汉译)
爸爸，现在我应该为您，为您写
一首诗，不管它多么简单﹑肤浅或者率真。
这一直是我的愿望，珍藏了很久，
只存在心里，因为还缺乏诗技，不能胜任。
——再者，对于情感的直白您一向不鼓励，
不过，就此事，我已下定决心，打定主意。
也许，您曾经感到过十分的灰心丧气，
教育女儿如此的麻烦，缺少乐趣；
对独生的孩子，您只好选择宽容与溺爱，
无论您心境如何，她怎样地喧哗或生气。
理论对她不起作用，再多说教也无济于事，
于是您将英文，和着苹果饼干糖果，用汤勺喂下去。
您的内心，细腻善感，脆弱而柔软，
尽管，有“庄严”和“坚毅”包在外面。
为前途为成功，您做过各种的努力，
有时候还会被人误解，作为代价，
不过，亲人们不会把您的付出视作当然，
天地间，在他们眼中您的作用最重要。
您是绝对的保护者和领航人，永远站在我的身边。
