赵彦春英译慧能《菩提本无树》
按：以下禅宗偈语出自《六祖坛经》（唐）：佛门五祖黄梅传授衣钵，首席弟子神秀作偈。偈曰：
身是菩提树，
心如明镜台，
时时勤拂拭，
勿使惹尘埃。
My body is a Bodhi tree,
My heart is like a mirror stand.
I clean it to make it speck-free
So that dust has nowhere to land.
黄梅谓其未见自性。其时六祖方入黄梅门下，尚未见知，因亦作一偈：
菩提本无树，
明镜亦非台。
本来无一物，
何处惹尘埃。
There's nothing like a Bodhi tree,
Nor such thing as a mirror stand.
There is nothing that you might see.
Where can dust find a place to land?
